There was a last minute flurry of filings Monday for four positions available on The Woodlands Township elections in May, leading to contested races for each seat.
On May 8, The Woodlands Township board will be reduced from 11 appointed and elected directors to seven members elected community-wide. Four positions, each with a two year term, are open in the May elections.
Because these are newly created positions, there are no incumbents for the seats. Among those who have filed in the race are:
Position 1: Claude Hunter, Robert Tyson, Michael Smith
Position 2: Tom Campbell, Michael Donnelly, Ted Stanley
Position 3: Lloyd Matthews, Jeff Long, Adam Muery, Jay Mac Sanders
Position 4: Ed Robb, Ronny Taylor, Deborah Sargeant, Randy Scott
The township will hold a candidates school on Wednesday to provide an overview on governance and the programs and services offered by the township.
Early voting begins on April 26 and the election will be held on May 8.
