Interior view of 1252 Tapas Bar
Piquillos rellenos de queso tetilla (roasted peppers stuffed with cheese)
The newest resident of Market Street welcomed its first patrons on Wednesday. Located in the North Commons next to Sunglass Hut, 1252 Tapas Bar is now open for lunch and dinner every Monday through Sunday.
The new eatery, whose name is based on the year of King Alfonso X’s coronation, strives to revive the Spanish monarch’s tradition of offering small bites of food on a saucer (Tapa) while serving wine. The Bar serves up a wide selection of traditional Spanish tapas cuisine, such as puntillitas (fried baby squid), piquillos rellenos de queso tetilla (roasted peppers stuffed with cheese), and boquerones (white anchovies marinated with garlic, parsley, and olive oil). Seating is available both indoors and outdoors on a covered patio.
