Interfaith honors Woodlands couple

This release comes from Interfaith of The Woodlands:

Helping individuals is second nature to longtime Interfaith of The Woodlands employees and ongoing incredible supporters, Reverend Don and Barbara Gebert. For more than 35 years, Don and Barbara Gebert have played a huge part in the development of Interfaith, and to honor their ongoing commitment, Interfaith of The Woodlands announced that the Central building, located on Interfaith Way, is named the “Don and Barbara Gebert Building”.

“Don and Barbara have given tirelessly to Interfaith. The Board of Directors and staff felt it was the perfect time to honor and name the building after these two amazing individuals,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith. “Without their ongoing dedication to this organization, Interfaith would not have become what it is today. We truly appreciate all their love and commitment to helping Interfaith meet the needs of this community.”

“We are very honored and humbled,” shared Don. “It brings back so many memories.”

Moving from Philadelphia to The Woodlands in 1975, Don Gebert, a Lutheran minister, became the founding executive director of Interfaith of The Woodlands. Don worked hard to bring major religious groups together and developed the first program of Interfaith of The Woodlands- “The Directory”.

Today, Don and Barbara continue to work for Interfaith. In fact, Don and Barbara have the longest running employment records at Interfaith. Barbara, has worked at Interfaith since 1977, and continues to work as an Advertising Consultant, selling advertising for the Interfaith of The Woodlands Directory. Don serves on Interfaith of The Woodlands Board of Advisors and manages the delivery process of the directory each August.

When asked about their future with Interfaith, Don said, “Once you start caring, you don’t stop caring. We will always be involved with Interfaith.”
