Road construction is right on schedule

Woodlands Parkway at Gosling Dec. 22Woodlands Parkway at Gosling Dec. 22The intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Gosling has been abuzz with the the sounds, sights – and necessary annoyances – of construction.

Art Salinas with Precinct 3 said crews are currently installing poles and arms for a new traffic signal, necessary to accommodate road expansion.

So far crews have widened the turning lane on the south side of Gosling, and are now working on the north side.

Salinas said everything is on schedule.

    Just be careful out there.

I'm sure you've noticed there's not much lead time warning you the lane you're driving in is about to run out. It's rather sudden, like when you're practically already right on top of the workmen.

Fortunately drivers in the other lane seem to be letting others in - at least some of the time.

Remember the posted speed limit in construction zones is 30.

When it's all said and done by mid-year 2010, Woodlands Parkway will be six lanes from East Panther Creek Drive to Kuykendahl Road.

Hassell Construction Company, Inc. is building the segment from East Panther Creek to Gosling, and South Coast Construction Company, Inc. is doing Gosling to Kuykendahl.

It's not a county project, although once it's complete the county will provide road maintenance.
